The beauty of Magnetic Island could very easy be a subject for an exhibition at the Museum of Modern Art or at least at the Umbrella Studios Gallery or at the Regional Art Gallery Perc Tucker in Townsville. The Island is art in itself with the 1000 of sculptures created by TIME during millions of years. Horseshoe Bay, Maggies Beach House, Arcadia, Arkies, Alma Bay, Picnic Bay, Nelly Bay, Balding Bay, Florence Bay, Radical Bay and Rocky Bay Beach, to mention a few of the beaches, are "heavens" for fussy art lovers. - James Cook did not see it. Townsville City Council did not exist at the time, and James Cook "the driver", transported the great scientist's, the swede Dr. Daniel Solander and his student Joseph Bank around the watersand the swede made the first recorded "european" footsteps in the region.
